Precision Painting & Decorating Begins Accepting Bitcoin, Litecoin, & Ethereum

America’s First Painting Job Paid For Using Ethereum

In December 2017 Precision Painting & Decorating became the first painting contractor in the country to accept payment for a residential painting project in cryptocurrency. With the current buzz surrounding cryptocurrencies, the story was picked up by the International Business Times. The project consisted of an interior repaint in the Chicago suburb of Frankfort, IL. Here’s what homeowner Dan Lundstedt, who paid using the cryptocurrency Ethereum, had to say about the experience:

“Well I have been lucky to be successful with Ethereum in terms of ROI, so I thought why not use it repaint my house? I know Aaron from a previous painting job, we got to talking about it, and here we are. The whole thing was simple because we executed in coinbase without drawing or converting bitcoins into dollars.”

Why did Precision start accepting cryptocurrencies?

Sensing that cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin and Ethereum, are more than just a fad, Precision decided to make cryptocurrency payments an option starting December 1st. According to owner Aaron Moore, who has been interested in cryptocurrencies for over 3 years, it was time to get the painting world on board with what he sees as a long term trend. He went on to admit there is some risk to accepting the volatile currencies that can drop by 10%, 20%, or more in a single day.

“Cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin, are becoming part of the regular vocabulary of everyday people, no different than Uber. With more and more people interested in them and starting to buy them, we figured, why not let a customer pay us in them?” Now we just need to hope they keep increasing in value, or someone could get a once in a lifetime deal on a painting project.

What cyrptocurrencies do we accept?

Via Coinbase and www.coinpayments.net, Precision Painting & Decorating accepts the three major cryptocurrencies; Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum. Cryptocurrencies can be used to pay for any of the following painting services:

  • Interior house painting

4 Easy Tips for Maintaining Your Epoxy Floor Coating

Epoxy floors offer a polished, durable foundation for both commercial buildings and private dwellings. While epoxy is tough, it isn’t indestructible. To keep your floors looking and functioning their best, here are four easy tips for maintaining your epoxy floor coating.

  1. Sweep Often

Dust, scratches, and buildup are enemies of epoxy floors. Fortunately, you can easily combat these if you sweep your floors daily. Professional epoxy coaters generally recommend giving an epoxy floor a good sweep every day to keep dirt under control. If your epoxy floor is in a high-traffic area or industrial site, you may need to sweep more often to prevent damage to your building’s flooring.

  1. Jump on Stains

Concrete is porous, so it stains easily. Epoxy coating seals pores, making concrete resistant to staining. Still, it does not make your floors impervious to damage. If you spill anything on your epoxy floor coating, be sure you clean the stain immediately. Then, check to see if the substance has damaged the coating. If it has, work with a professional coater to reseal the tarnished area.

  1. Mop Regularly

It isn’t difficult to clean epoxy-coated floors. With a mild water and ammonia solution, you can likely remove everyday grime from your flooring. Before you mop epoxy floors, however, be sure you test a small area to see how it will react to the cleaning agent you choose to use.

  1. Use Protective Items

Finally, to keep your epoxy floor in great shape, be careful about any items you place on it. If you have heavy machinery or furniture, you may choose to use a protective mat. Likewise, if your flooring is susceptible to high heat, flames, or chemicals, be sure you place a protective layer between the source and the floor.

By following these four simple tips, you should be able to keep your epoxy floors looking great and functioning optimally. Precision Painting and Decorating has the expertise to install and service epoxy-coated floors. Contact us today to learn more about this attractive, versatile, and durable flooring option.

What Time of Year is Best to Epoxy your Garage Floor?

Many homeowners want to use the summer months to epoxy their garage floors. This makes sense since we live in a climate that can be unforgiving in the latter part of the year. Keep in mind that the temperature of the concrete must be at least 55°F so the air temperature should be somewhere between 60° and 90°F for optimum drying. The concrete must also be dry so a sunny weekend without high levels of humidity is probably best.BENEFITS OF A GARAGE FLOOR EPOXY COATING

Makes Surfaces Smooth and Easy to Clean
Dirt and dust can easily be wiped clean if you have your concrete floor coated with epoxy. For this reason, epoxy floor coatings are perfect for facilities such as food and beverage plants, pharmaceutical plants and packaging plants. An epoxy floor coating makes a concrete surface hard and durable, which makes it a wise investment for just about any business.

Creates a Beautiful Floor Surface
Another huge advantage with epoxy flooring is that you end up with a surface that has an attractive high-gloss shine. Epoxy coatings can be found in different colors and styles. Therefore, you can be certain that there is a color available to suit your taste.

Makes Floors Chemical Resistant
One of the reasons that many of those who own factories, warehouses and industrial plants get their floors covered with epoxy floor coating is that it makes their concrete floor chemical resistant. If you run a business where chemicals are involved, investing in epoxy floor coating is really a wise decision.

Helps to Improve Safety
Safety must be a top priority with any home or business. As a home or business owner, you have to ensure that you create an atmosphere that is safe for your family and visitors.

So, how exactly does epoxy floor coating improve safety? Epoxy coatings are formulated to resist impact, slip, heat or fire.

Epoxy coatings can promise you a more robust floor that may last for many years. Additionally, it offers flooring surfaces that are chemically resistant and ideal for garages, basements, and warehouses.

Commercial Building Paint Color Ideas

The first impression a client has of your business may be the colors you paint your building. You want the colors to convey professionalism and competence. For both the exterior and interior of a commercial building, there are basic guidelines to follow.

Stay Neutral

This isn’t just good advice for Switzerland; it’s good for your paint scheme as well. Neutrals are calming and inoffensive to just about everybody. They also provide a great backdrop for your logo. Your brand name can really pop against a neutral background.

For the exterior of your building, neutrals are more likely to blend with the neighborhood. This might be important if you are in a historic district. If you feel a need to add a bit of pizzazz and personality, choosing a vibrant trim color can provide a spark without overwhelming your clients or the neighborhood association.

Avoid Freudian Slips

There is a psychology to color. Colors can influence the way people think and feel. For example, most people consider blue to be calming and serene while red is exciting or romantic. What do you want your customers to feel when they see your building? If your company is a hip new internet startup, you might paint the building with some accent colors that scream youthful energy, such as orange. However, if your business is a respected law firm of 100 years, some hunter green trim may be just what you need to convey longevity and reliability.

Let True Colors Shine Through

Many people use paint swatches incorrectly. Holding up swatches in the paint store and comparing them to each other does not reveal the true hue of the paint. Here are tips to see color clearly:

  • Look at the swatches in the room that is to be painted.
  • Hold the swatch vertically to the wall you want to paint.
  • Hold the swatch against a white background.

Grasscloth Wallpaper…huh?

Grasscloth Wallpaper is the latest decorating trends! Environment friendly and ORGANIC! This wallpaper is made from renewable grasses and plant fibers. Retailers offer a variety of colors and strands, some funky, some not so funky. Is this really the perfect organic backdrop for any type of decorating?

If that is what’s going threw your mind then you’re right there with the wife! A lot of things from the 80’s are coming back, one of them being Grasscloth Wallpaper. This decorating element can really define a space and give it a casual, vintage or formal look. I decided to go more formal and put it in my living room. Thoughts?

Here are some pictures that inspired my idea …

contemporary-bathroom grasscloth2I plan to do this myself and hoping to start fairly soon … I will keep you updated on the process/progress!

Perfect D.I.Y Outdoor Storage Idea!

Alright, I’ll admit it. Every now and then I sneak into my wife’s Pinterest account and look at the crazy stuff she pins….but don’t tell her. I’d like to keep my Man Card..

Most of the pins are How – To’s in the Beauty School Drop Out board or the Make Me Skinny board. For real? But every now and then she posts some pretty cool idea. Check out this one I just found…

1

Now why she pinned this, I have no idea since we have a regular brick paved patio. But this is still a great idea and if we had a walk out basement I just might try this idea myself! The reality is, the average home has a two car garage and we don’t exactly have room to build a big ole’ shed in the backyard anymore. The yard has officially become the kid’s territory with ginormous swing sets and the new “storage” place for all their junk … I mean toys, and the garage is taken over by the bikes, scooters, lemonade stands and the like.

This would be great to store the outdoor toys, patio cushions/furniture or the lawn mower and other equipment that won’t get used in the winter. You won’t be kicking and screaming when YOU have to spend extra time moving the toys out of the way! And the best part of all, the wife can now pull her car in the garage in winter and won’t complain about the snow in her boots or ask YOU to get up earlier to do it for her!

Think about it guys! This is a perfect, decently cheap way to keep everyone happy (and get a few extra Zzzz’s in the a.m.!)!
